Every obligation as a chapter of its own: what applies, from when, how to set it up in your shop system. Tick off what is done and get a reminder before the next deadline. When something new comes, a chapter is added.

What applies to your shop?0 of 9 answered

Answer what you know. What does not apply moves down. An open question removes nothing.

  • Do you sell to consumers?
  • Do you sell physical goods? No if you only sell services, courses or digital content.
  • Do you also sell to businesses in Germany?
  • Do you offer pay later, invoice or instalments?Including through Klarna, PayPal and similar services.
  • Do you use a chatbot or realistic AI images or videos?Product texts written with AI do not count.
  • Do you advertise with environmental or climate claims?Including labels, images, brand names and packaging.
  • Fewer than 10 employees and at most €2 million turnover?
  • Are you a small business exempt from VAT in Germany?
  • Did you have more than €800,000 turnover last year?

  1. Mandatory from 13 Dec 2024

    Product safety (GPSR)

Every listing needs the manufacturer’s address, a product picture and identifier, and the safety warnings.

  2. Mandatory from 28 Jun 2025

    Shop accessibility

Online shops selling to consumers must work for everyone, including keyboard and screen reader users. Only microenterprises are exempt.

Customers must be able to withdraw from an online purchase via “withdraw from contract” in two clicks, with an acknowledgement.

    Right to repair

When a customer complains, you have to tell them they may choose repair or replacement, and that a repair extends the legal guarantee by twelve months.

  5. Mandatory from 2 Aug 2026

    AI in your shop

Chatbots must disclose that they are AI, and deceptively real AI images and videos need a visible notice.

  6. Mandatory from 27 Sep 2026

    The EU legal guarantee notice

The blue EU box on the legal guarantee has to be visible in your shop, in colour and unchanged.

  7. Mandatory from 27 Sep 2026

    Green claims

“Climate neutral” based on offsetting is banned, and so are unproven “eco-friendly” claims and self-made labels.

  8. Mandatory from 20 Nov 2026

    Pay later and instalments

Pay-later and instalment offers through payment providers become consumer credit; ads for them need a warning.

  9. Mandatory from 1 Jan 2027

    E-invoicing

Selling to businesses in Germany with more than €800,000 turnover last year means issuing e-invoices from 2027.

With sources, dates and the how-to.

With sources

Every rule links to the law, the European Commission or the provider. Where something is disputed, it says so.

With dates

Every chapter shows when it was last checked. When something changes, it gets updated.

With the how-to

Not just legal text: how it actually works in Shopify, Shopware, WooCommerce, JTL, Wix and others.
